About
WHO AM I?
Hi, I'm Michael. Having recently graduated with a degree in music technology, and after inheriting a beautiful baby grand piano, I recently started learning to tune and repair pianos.

I love playing and tinkering with pianos and would love to help all piano owners make the most out of their instrument.

Aware of how niche this profession has now become, I will also be documenting my journey as I learn and hone this craft - please follow along on social media if you are at all interested - links at the bottom of the page.
I became a Certified Piano Technician in June 2024 with the Piano Technician Academy.

MY AIM
I aim to provide the best possible care for your instrument whether that is just giving it a regular tuning or bringing it back to life after sitting dormant in a dark corner for years. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like any more information on anything related to pianos.
WHY 'A4FORTE'?
Almost every piano, all across the world, is tuned to the same reference pitch - A440. This means that the A above middle C has a frequency of 440Hz. Tuners often tune this note first, either using a tuning fork or an electronic tuning device (ETD), and then tune the rest of the piano to this note.

Forte is an Italian word meaning 'strong', and is commonly used as a musical indication to play loudly. Additionally, the original name for the piano coined by its inventor, Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco, was the Pianoforte meaning quiet loud - representing the piano's ability to play a huge dynamic range.
